Held in Holy Stillness
Take a slow breath. God is already here.
Your Invitation
Winter invites us to slow down.
To exhale.
To stop striving and simply be held.
Stillness is not emptiness — it is holy space.
And in that space, God meets us gently, whispering peace to hearts that have been carrying too much for too long.
Scripture
“He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.’”
— Psalm 46:10 (NIV)
Reflection
So much of life trains us to stay busy. To fix. To perform. To push through.
Yet God’s invitation is different: Be still and know.
Stillness is where we begin to notice what is happening inside us — our emotions, our longings, our weariness, our hope. This quiet awareness is the first act of emotional wisdom. When we pause, we make room for God to tend to what we’ve been carrying.
You don’t have to force stillness.
You simply have to allow it.
Even a few minutes in God’s presence resets the nervous system, softens anxious thoughts, and reminds your soul: You are safe here.
Journaling Prompt
Where in my life is God inviting me to slow down and notice what I’m feeling?
Prayer
Lord,
Teach me to be still in Your presence.
Quiet my striving.
Calm my racing thoughts.
Help me notice what my heart needs — and trust that You will meet me there.
I rest in You now.
Amen.
Affirmation
I am safe to rest in God’s presence.
Stillness is where I hear His voice.
I am rooted, not rushed.
Closing Blessing
May your heart settle gently into God’s peace.
May stillness become a sanctuary, not a struggle.
And may you feel deeply rooted in the quiet love that never lets you go.
